Much has been said about the assignment of Golden Visas.

But what are, in fact, these seen? What are the advantages?

Other requirements:

  • No conviction for a crime that in Portugal is punishable by deprivation of liberty for a term of one year or more;

  • No indication in the Schegen information system;

Family reunification:

  • The request for family reunification may be requested simultaneously with the ARI Concession of the investor, but will always be conditioned to the deferral of this and are considered members of the family for the purpose of family reunification:
  • The spouse; the minor or incapable children in charge of the couple or one of the spouses, the eldest children, dependent on the couple or one of the spouses attending a school, even in another country, the parents of the resident or spouse, provided they are under his responsibility, the minor siblings, provided that he is under the custody of the resident.

 

Duration of the Golden Visa:

You should prepare a set of documentation including:

  • Criminal record of the country of origin OR where you have lived for more than one year; (this document must be duly translated officially into Portuguese and apostilled).
  • Full copy of passport.
  • Declarations under an honor commitment regarding the maintenance of the investment for the duration of the ARI and consent for consultation of Portuguese criminal records.
  • Declarations relating to the Portuguese tax administration and social security.
  • Proof of adequate health insurance contracting with coverage for Portugal.

 

The applicant must have a valid and valid Passport and still be a Schengen visa holder, if applicable.

 

Can the investment be carried out by more than one person or by a company/society?

 

You can. But in any case only the participation of each of the people is relevant. For example, if two people purchase a property, it must have a minimum value of 1.000.000 € (one million euros) and the share of each one cannot be less than half that amount.

How long does the ARI holder have to keep the investment on which he based the order?

The investment in any modality must be maintained for five (5) years, from the date of granting of the Residence Permit.

 

What is the competent authority for the granting of a gold visa (residence permit based on investment)?

 

The process must be investigated with the Aliens and Borders Service. It is done by means of own form and with delivery of all the documents that demonstrate the investment and other documents mentioned above. 

The interested party may be represented by a proxy with special powers to that effect.

IMPORTANT: the physical presence of the interested party is required at least once in Portugal during the process. This can be done at the beginning or at the end of the procedure (with the collection of authorization) or even at an intermediate stage. This need arises from the obligation of the Portuguese authorities to collect biometric data (fingerprints, official photographs, etc.)

The investment in any modality must be maintained for five (5) years, from the date of granting of the Residence Permit.

Other requirements:

Can the investment be carried out by more than one person or by a company/society?

You can. But in any case only the participation of each of the people is relevant. For example, if two people purchase a property, it must have a minimum value of 1.000.000 € (one million euros) and the share of each one cannot be less than half that amount.
